Introduction to Cutback Bitumen RC-250

Cutback asphalt is asphalt cement blended with solvents like gasoline, diesel, kerosene, or naphtha. These solvents make the asphalt liquid at room temperature, thereby enhancing its ability to coat aggregates effectively. Moreover, this process improves the application efficiency in construction projects.

Composition and Characteristics

Cutback asphalt typically contains 12-40% distillate. However, due to environmental regulations and energy demands, its use has declined. Interestingly, when gasoline or naphtha is used, the product becomes “rapid curing” (RC) cutback asphalt. In fact, specifications permit up to 45% distillate in RC-250, which enhances its performance.

Compliance and Production

Our Cutback Bitumen RC-250 meets ASTM D2028-97 standards. Additionally, it’s made from penetration-grade bitumen mixed with solvents like kerosene or white spirit, effectively controlling curing time. As a result, it ensures optimal adhesion and durability. Produced from vacuum residue feedstock, it softens with heat and hardens when cool. This property is vital for performance in terms of adhesion and durability.

Available in bulk tankers or steel drums, these are secured on pallets to prevent leaks during transit. Moreover, this ensures safe and efficient transportation. Hence, the product remains intact during long-distance shipping.
