Bitumen 90/15

Description of  Bitumen 90/15

At the bitumen production reactor, during air oxidation, a mixture of Vacuum Bottom (VB) and Vacuum Silas (VS) feedstocks undergoes a controlled process at a temperature between 200-300°C. This process oxidizes the hydrogen atoms in the bitumen molecule, resulting in polymerization with higher hydrocarbons. The final product, oxidized bitumen 90/15, has a softening point of 90°C and a penetration value of 15 dmm.

Gold Bitumen guarantees the quality of its Bitumen 90/15 through international inspections and quality control (QC) testing, ensuring compliance with ASTM standards.

Uses of Bitumen 90/15

Grade 90/15 is widely used in industries such as:

  • Chemicals, fuels, and coatings
  • Road construction and pavement repair
  • Roofing and waterproofing
  • Adhesives and construction material additives
  • Corrosion protection for metals

Application of Grade 90/15

Before application, Grade 90/15 must be heated to twice its softening point to achieve the required flow and viscosity. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of debris, curing products, or irregularities.

Storage/Handling of Oxidized

bitumen 90/15 has a shelf life of up to 10 years, even with repeated heating and cooling. Always refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for safe handling instructions.

Packing of  Bitumen Grade  90/15

Gold Bitumen offers multiple packing options to suit customer needs, including:

  • Kraft bags
  • Meltable plastic bags
  • Drums
  • Bulk containers

The product complies with ASTM standards, ensuring the desired softening point of 90°C and penetration value of 15 dmm.
