3. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION:

Contains solvent which causes defatting of the skin and, in extreme cases, dermatitis. Flammable (R10). Harmful, may cause lung damage if swallowed (R65). Toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long term adverse effects in the aquatic environment (R51/53). Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking (R66).

4. FIRST AID MEASURES:

Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air. If discomfort persists seek medical advice. Skin Contact: Remove contamination with proprietary skin cleaner, followed by washing with soap and water. This procedure should also be followed prior to eating, drinking, smoking and toilet functions. Eye Contact: Irrigate immediately with clean water for 15 minutes and obtain medical attention. Ingestion: If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately. Do not induce vomiting. If possible show product information or label to medical advisor.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES:

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES:

Precautions: Stem flow of spilled material. Extinguish all naked flames and cigarettes. Material should be mopped up immediately with an inert absorbent material, such as sand, sawdust, earth, etc. Prevent spills from entering sewers and drains. Dispose of at an appropriate licensed waste disposal site in accordance with current legislation and regulations.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE:

Handling: Ensure adequate ventilation Storage: Should be stored under cover, out of direct sunlight and away from sources of heat and ignition

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY:

Stable under normal conditions. Avoid excessive heat. Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide, oxides of nitrogen and sulphur.

11.TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION:

When bitumen is mixed with diluent, it is believed that the preparation becomes more bio-available. The carcinogenicity of the preparation is strongly dependant on the nature of the solvent used since the polycylic aromatic content of the bitumen is low.

12.ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION:

The preparation has not been tested but, the slow rates of bio degradation of bitumen can cause interference with the normal functioning of ecological cycles. Bitumens should therefore be contained and spills avoided.

13.DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Material and container must be disposed of as “hazardous waste” in accordance with local and national regulations.
